Cross Plains, Wisconsin is located about 7 miles west of Middleton, and about 12 miles west of Madison. It's a 10-minute ride from Cross Plains to Madison's main expressway, known as the Beltline Highway, or USH 12/14. The Village of Cross Plains is home to approximately 3200 people, nestled in the northwestern section of Dane County. Its neighboring communities include Pine Bluff to the south, Springfield and Sauk City to the north, and Black Earth, Mazomanie, Arena and Spring Green to the west via USH 14.
The Village of Cross Plains owns and maintains 25 acres of developed parks, including Municipal Park with a swimming pool, ball diamonds, playground, park shelter and picnic areas. Baer park has lighted ball diamonds, volleyball court, tennis courts, ice skating rink, playground, park shelter and picnic areas. There are five neighborhood parks with play equipment, landscaped areas and open play and picnic areas. The village also owns 81 acres of conservancy park areas. Flowing through the Village of Cross Plains are the spring-fed headwaters of the world renowned Black Earth Creek, a high quality trout stream that attracts fly-fishers and other anglers from throughout the Midwest.
