In 2010, Brad Kane and John Thompson began discussions about the vacuum created by mass failures in the mortgage industry. Brad brought his sterling reputation and over a decade of experience as an insider in mortgage finance; John brought his history of strong performance and deep knowledge of the fixed income and equity investment industry. The result is Thompson Kane & Company, LLC, a newly formed mortgage banking company that is free of all legacy issues from the mortgage debacle.
The philosophy of Thompson Kane is to bring service back into financial services. We will meet with you during or after normal working hours, including nights and weekends; we will meet at your location (or ours, depending upon your preference) to help assemble required documents; we will close your loan at the location of your choice, not ours. You can login to our website to check the status of your loan or call your loan officer anytime. With local underwriting, we will close loans quickly and on time. And finally, given our lack of legacy issues and wonderful computer systems, we can pass along the savings to you through very competitive rates and fees.

Executive Management Team
John C. Thompson is the Chief Executive Officer and has served in this capacity since formation of the Company. Mr. Thompson has over 19 years of experience in the financial services industry. From 1993 to 2009, Mr. Thompson was President and lead manager of the equity and fixed income portfolios at the Thompson Plumb Funds, Inc. and was responsible for attracting and managing over $2 billion in assets under management. From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Thompson founded and served as President and Chief Investment Officer of Mortgage Assurance Corporation (now NMI Holdings, Inc.). From 2010 to the present, Mr. Thompson founded and serves as Chief Executive Officer of Vilas Capital Management, a financial services concentrated hedge fund management firm. Mr. Thompson holds a M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Bradley T. Kane is the President and has served in this capacity since formation of the Company. Mr. Kane has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry, with more than 12 years of experience in mortgage originations. From 1990 to 2000, Mr. Kane served as investment broker for A.G. Edwards. From 2001 to present, Mr. Kane founded and serves as President of B.T. Kane Group Financial Inc., a residential mortgage broker. Mr. Kane holds a B.A. in Finance from Quincy University.
Craig Robertson is the Chief Operating Officer. With over 17 years of experience, Craig can best be described as a seasoned veteran in the Financial Services Industry. His knowledge within the industry has expanded throughout his roles as Underwriting Manager and Director of Underwriting at numerous companies, including BWM Mortgage, One Choice Mortgage, LLC, and Peoples Home Equity. Craig has been responsible for mentoring and motivating his operations team over the years. His career highlights include introducing a paperless system, streamlining the closing process of all retail and third party originated loans and developing key secondary marketing relationships with national investors. His vast management and exceptional interpersonal skills make Craig an excellent fit for Chief Operating Officer at Thompson Kane & Company.
John Walrath serves as the Chief Compliance Officer & Director of Quality Control. His primary responsibilities, in today’s complex regulatory environment, include oversight of the company’s compliance strategy, a critical component in delivering the highest quality loans for profitable growth and managing the shifting regulatory landscape. He has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Walrath received his formal education from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, earning his degree in finance with an emphasis in real estate. Professionally, he has founded three financial services companies and served as Financial Examiner—Supervisor and Bureau Director for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Financial Institutions. In his role as Director, Mr. Walrath contributed to the division’s strategic plan, provided technical guidance for statute and rule revisions (setting policy) and trained examiners. Mr.Walrath regularly attends continuing education classes and currently holds, or has held, several financial services licenses including: Insurance, Notary, Series 7 & 63 (Securities); Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Loan Originator. Mr. Walrath enjoys spending time with his family, playing chess, reading and most anything outdoors. Mr. Walrath also enjoys serving as a volunteer for a nonprofit community-based Hospice Care. He is well known for his expertise in the mortgage banking field and has served as a Subject Matter Expert.
Michael A. Wagner is the Vice Chairman/Managing Director and has served in this capacity since formation of the Company. Mr. Wagner has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. From 1987 to 1988, Mr. Wagner served as an auditor at Price Waterhouse LLP. From 1990 to 1993, Mr. Wagner held various positions in portfolio management at Thompson, Unger and Plumb, LLC. From 1993 to 2004, Mr. Wagner held various positions in portfolio management including Director of Non Traditional Assets at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board. While at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Mr. Wagner was responsible for the formation of SWR Holding, a private multi-bank holding company based in eastern Europe, Kansai Sawayaka, a private Japanese commercial bank holding company based in Osaka Japan, and KOL Holdings, a KOSPI listed commercial banking, insurance and investment management holding company based in Seoul Korea. From 2004 to present. Mr. Wagner holds a M.S., in Finance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, a B.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Matthew F. Druzba is the Chief Business Development Officer. Mr. Druzba has over 30 years of operational, technical, and senior management experience within several diverse industries. Mr. Druzba has held various senior roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Eastman Kodak, United States Military Academy (West Point), Global Crossing, TradeOut.com, VestMe Inc., and Erdman Company. From 2008 to 2009 Mr. Druzba served as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Mortgage Assurance Corporation (now NMI Holdings, Inc.). From 2010 to present, Mr. Druzba serves as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Vilas Capital Management. From 2011 to present, Mr. Druzba serves as President and founder of VestMe Inc. Mr. Druzba holds a B.S. in Computer Software from The University of the State of New York, NY and is a retired US Army 10th Mountain Division commissioned officer.
Jeffrey Rusinow is a Board Member & Lead Investor and has served in this capacity since formation of the Company. Mr. Rusinow has over 30 years of experience in the retailing industry and more than 10 years of venture capital experience. Mr. Rusinow has held senior executive positions with leading retailers including Gimbels, Macys, Bullocks and Kohls. In 2000, Mr. Rusinow founded a leading Midwest venture network and has been significant investor and executive in numerous companies. As lead investor, Mr. Rusinow has taken two startups to successful exits involving acquisitions by Fortune 500 companies.
